News Broadcasts Do More Than Feed You Facts

Bias could not be more obvious through the contrasting news platforms.  When CNN and Fox News both cover the Mueller investigation the headlines appear significantly different.  They are each giving the people what they want to see, they are feeding their audience one sided headlines that makes them feel comfortable--as if their favorite newscasters are reading their mind.  Instead of giving the people straight forward facts and letting them develop their own educated opinions, they insert their bias.

Below is a screenshot of the beginning of a news story later posted on YouTube by Fox News.  The broadcasters titled this story "Trump Wins, the Media Loses."  The positive connotation to the word "wins" puts the broadcasters on the same team as Trump.  Although Fox News is nothing but "media," they do not include themselves in this category.  Therefore, through this headline, they are redefining what "media" is.

The contrasting program, CNN, is known to be a more liberal and democratically bias news broadcast.  They title the story "The Mueller report is shocking." Here we see the difference in reactions.  They thought that because their opinion of Trump was so negative, nothing positive could ever come his way, and surely Mueller would be against him.  However, they are "shocked" and even possibly in denial about their content.  They are "shocked" that their bias could have lead them in the wrong direction, a direction that was proven wrong by the Mueller investigation.

These headlines tells the reader how they should feel about the facts they will be receiving before they have even had the chance to know what happened within the reports.  The reader is choked with what they SHOULD feel.  After reading this headline the reader has a sub-conscience bias going into the article or video.  They are told what they should be feeling and because the media platform has targeted them so well, they feel inclined to listen to the news that is being fed to them.
